Let’s Install a Pull-out!

Choose a kitchen cabinet that is easily accessible and in a functional area of your kitchen. Make sure you measure the chosen pull-out trash can cabinet carefully (height, width and depth) and the pull-out kit you choose will fit properly into the space. Unscrew the cabinet door, remove hinges and any shelving before starting the drawer assembly.

Following the manufacturer instruction manual, mark screw holes on the bottom/sides of the cabinet and attached slides with a pencil.

Using a drill bit, pre-drill holes for easy, straight screw installation. Install the hardware kit and slides with the screws and a screwdriver according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

If your kit has a back bracket for the slides, install them onto the back wall of your cabinet. Mount it with a thin piece of wood and shim if necessary.

Measure from the bottom of the cabinet face frame to the bottom of the pull-out hardware. Transfer those measurements to the back of the door. Measure the width of the pull-out. Transfer measurements, centering pull-out unit on the door. Use a combination square to draw straight lines.

Remove the pull-out unit from the glides and place down onto the cabinet door. Position the unit with your penciled guide lines. Screw the unit into the cabinet. Add trash can and recycle bin and slide into place. Lastly, replace the cabinet door and watch that trash disappear!
